We provide floor sanding and sealing, and floor polishing, for hardwood and parquet floors in homes and commercial premises. We have sanded, sealed and stained many floors, finishing them with oil and lacquer to a range of sheens, from a natural matt look to a high gloss.
Sanding takes a worn floor back to clean bare wood, removing tired finishes, scratches and marks. The floor can then be left in its natural colour or stained, before it is sealed with an oil or lacquer chosen to suit how much wear the room gets.
We are a Bona Certified floor sanding contractor, trained in Bona sanding and finishing systems. Our floor work covers sanding, sealing, polishing, staining and oiling of solid wood floorboards, oak floors and herringbone parquet.
As a guide, sanding and sealing a typical room takes about 2 days with a lacquer finish, or about 3 days with an oil finish, as oil needs longer between coats. Larger floors and floors needing a lot of repairs take longer. Once the final coat is on, the floor can be walked on after about 4 hours with lacquer, or about 12 hours with oil.
Floor sanding and sealing typically costs between £42 and £60 per square metre, depending on the condition of the floor, the repairs needed and the finish chosen. Every floor is different, so for an accurate quote send us a few photos of the floor and the room size using our contact form or WhatsApp.

Yes. The room needs to be cleared of furniture before we start, so the whole floor can be sanded and finished evenly.
We use dust-extracted sanding machines, which collect most of the dust as we sand.
Most solid wood floors, including floorboards, oak strip floors and parquet, can be sanded and refinished several times over their life. Engineered wood floors can be sanded too, as long as the top layer of real wood is thick enough, which we check before starting.
Yes. We sand and seal herringbone and other parquet floors, bringing back the pattern of the blocks before finishing them with oil or lacquer.
Yes. Once the floor is sanded back to bare wood it can be stained to a new colour before it is sealed, from lighter natural tones to dark finishes.
Lacquer gives a tough protective coat that is easy to keep clean and suits busy areas. Oil gives a more natural look and can be touched up in worn areas without redoing the whole floor. We will recommend the right finish for how the room is used.
